No Limits Conference
Since 1994, Women’s and Gender Studies has hosted No Limits, an interdisciplinary student conference on issues related to women, gender, and sexuality. Sponsored annually by the Women's and Gender Studies programs at UNO, UNK and UNL, it is held in early March and rotates between the Lincoln, Kearney, and Omaha campuses. Open to undergraduate and graduate students, and recent graduates, it accommodates both traditional and non-traditional topics and presentations.
The conference encourages scholarly and creative presentations, including papers, posters, artwork, performances, and the reading of original work, and has also hosted many renowned scholars, writers, performers, and activists.
Annual Lecture
We sponsor an Annual Lecture in which local, national, and international scholars present their research on cutting edge themes in women, gender, and sexuality. Students also often have the opportunity to engage with these scholars in informal settings through class visits and brownbag luncheons.
Undergraduate Creative Activity and Research Experience
The UCARE program creates intellectual partnerships between faculty and undergraduates by providing funds for research.
McNair Scholars Program
This program encourages students to pursue graduate studies by providing opportunities to define goals, engage in research, and develop the skills and student/faculty mentor relationships critical to success at the doctoral level.
