Maureen Honey, professor of English and affiliate faculty in Women's and Gender Studies, has been awarded the Annis Chaikin Sorensen Award, which is an annual award that recognizes an individual for outstanding teaching in the humanities. Honey joined UNL in 1979 and is a leading scholar of American modernism. She also served at the Director of Women's Studies from 1987-1992. Honey has made important pedagogical contributions both in and outside the classroom. Through literature, her students come to understand the cultural history of America.
Three additional Women's and Gender Studies faculty members will also be receiving College Distinguished Teaching Awards, which recognize consistent excellence in teaching:
- Jeannette Eileen Jones, associate professor of history and ethnic studies
- Nora Peterson, assistant professor of modern languages and literatures
- Elizabeth Lewis, associate professor of teaching, learning, and teacher education
“These award-winning faculty showcase a passionate commitment to engaging students in teaching and learning,” said Amy Goodburn, associate vice chancellor. “We are proud to recognize their important contributions on our campus.”
Drs. Honey, Jones, Peterson, and Lewis will all be recognized at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln's Honors Convocation on April 24.
