Kathleen Lacey is the academic advisor for English, Film Studies, Ethnic Studies, and Women’s & Gender Studies. She hails from the tiny town of Arcadia, Wisconsin, famous for chicken and furniture. She completed her Ph.D. in English with a specialization in Women’s and Gender Studies from the University of Nebraska-Lincoln in 2017. Dr. Lacey’s research addresses the representation of Black girlhood in African American women’s literature, the racialization of childhood innocence, and Black girls’ intellectual production. Before she became an academic advisor, she taught courses in writing, literature, popular culture, and women’s and gender studies. Currently, she teaches first year experience and professionalization courses for the English department.
