Margaret Jacobs has been named a Charles Mach Professor by the University of Nebraska. She is a faculty member in the Department of History and Women's and Gender Studies program, and she is the director of the Center for Great Plains Studies.
Professorships are one of the highest forms of recognition bestowed upon faculty. University Professorships represent an extraordinary level of scholarly or creative achievement, documented excellence in various aspects of teaching and outreach, and extensive involvement and service in the advancement of the university's mission.
Jacobs has received numerous honors in her career, including membership in the American Academy of Arts and Sciences and being named Nebraska's inaugural Carnegie Fellow.
